Minnesotan Beholder

It was a great accomplish to get the e-mail that read, “Congratulations! This message is to inform you that your piece titled Minnesotan Beholder entered in Class 8-photography was accepted into the 2011 Fine Arts Exhibition.”   Only 125 photographs were accepted out of 796!  My husband and I brought the kids to the State fair and my daughter, who is nearly 5 and the subject of the photograph says, “LOOK MOM! THERE’S MY BIG EYE!”

It was even more exciting to learn that the photo sold for $277  and is being shipped to New York! It is amazing to to know someone enjoyed it enough to make it  their own. Huzzah for success!

Today, I was on cloud nine when I read this from the New York fan, “I was riveted when I saw your photograph!  The picture was amazing and appealed to my fascination for form, texture and depth.  It really made my mind race to try to figure out just how you captured it.  I recently bought my first DSLR camera and so seeing your photograph at the fair was further inspiration for me to go out and use it.”

The ability to inspire others is what being a photographer is all about!

This whole experience was a wonderful one and I can’t wait to try again for the 2012 Great Minnesota Get-together, the 12 days of FUN!
